Who are we? And what do we do?
We are based in the UK, and we design and make merchandise to raise awareness for CRPS / RSD. Any design that you want can be placed on one of our selection of different media (Pin badges, Key rings, Coasters etc)
Why did we set this up?
We set up this site to help to raise awareness for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). In April 2012, I was just a normal teenager, doing the things that everybody else was able to do; but, on the 11th April I went into town like I normally would however, when I got home I had this strange red mark on my right foot. A few days later, the red marks had spread to all of my toes on both of my feet and I was in agony. So like anybody else, I went to the doctors and they couldn't believe what had happened and they had never seen anything like it before. So, they ran some test for auto-immune diseases, the test came back clear; but, I was still in sheer agony. So the doctor referred me to the hospital, who diagnosed me with "Reynaud's Syndrome" and put me on some calcium channel blockers. Which suprisingly, didn't work. It almost felt as if they didn't believe the amount of agony I was in. Eventually, I was referred to Sheffield Childrens Hospital, in July, where a speciallist diagnosed me with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. I had never heard of it before, so we had to research it and I couldn't believe that other people had lived in this much pain on a day-to-day basis. The speciallist, ran some more tests because he had never seen a case like mine before, because I have it in both feet and there is no known reason as to why my body just suddenly decided to disable me. After a 7 week stay in 2 different hospitals I was finally allowed to come home. We were lucky and had a good Occupational Therapy team; so, I was able to get a new wheelchair and we were waiting to have adjustments made to the house.
But, not all people are as lucky as we were, some people just struggle on without the equipment that they desperately need. Surely, everybody should get the treatment and equipment that they need. So with the money we raise, we intend to help those families that are struggling. Not only to buy equipment but to give them advise on how to cope with their condition. Not only for the sufferers but for the families as well.
